IDL Software Tools
If available, the task name will link to a PDF file which
will show a sample of the widget and a brief description of
the task. The "Download" link will connect to the anonymous
ftp directory for the task.
Most of the software requires the installation of the
IDL Astronomy User's Library, available from
Goddard Spaceflight Center.
Many of the packages require the ua_lib package as well.
It is
a good idea to download it as well.
Note:
The primary development platforms are Sun Solaris and Linux.
Marginal support for MacOS and MS Windows is occasionally included
in some packages. Running on platforms other than Solaris or Linux
may result in unwanted behavior.
Everything:
Get everything in once convient package for downloading.
This includes all the packages listed below.
NEW This archive is now a plain archive of all the packages.
The size of the entire, compressed archive is about 5Mb.
Uncompressed, everything totals about 8Mb.
To unpack the archive, download the file and use a command such as:
zcat allsoftware.tar.Z | tar xf -
which should create a nicmos subdirectory.
ua_lib:
This package includes library routines which are used in many of the
other packages, including ua_fits, and imscale. It is a good idea
to download this package in addition to any others to help avoid
missing packages. These files should be include in your IDL_PATH.
